Dr Marco Schönberger

My career

After completing my medical degree at the Medical University of Vienna, I began my training as a general practitioner at Innsbruck Regional Hospital in 2017. This thorough clinical training laid the foundations for my work as a GP and also forms the basis for my specialisation in travel medicine.

During my six-month clinical placement with Dr Helmuth Obermoser in Kitzbühel, I was able to experience the wide range of general medical care whilst gaining valuable experience in advising patients on their individual concerns.

My clinical placement in Nagoya, Japan, had a particularly formative influence on my decision to specialise in travel medicine. There, I not only gained an insight into a different healthcare system, but also gained valuable international experience in dealing with patients from diverse cultural backgrounds.

My language skills – I am fluent in German, English and Spanish and have a good knowledge of Italian – enable me to advise travellers from various countries competently and empathetically.

Interests and personal commitment

Travelling is an integral part of my life, both professionally and personally. Engaging with different cultures and healthcare systems has broadened my perspective on medicine and made me more aware of the specific needs of travellers.

Whether it’s vaccinations, tropical medicine or preparing for specific climatic conditions – I want you to be able to set off on your journey safely and in good health.

Dr Marco Schönberger and Reisemedizin Tirol look forward to providing you with personalised and expert support as you prepare for your trip.
